People often thank me for making them beautiful or feeling beautiful. I’m not a magician or a plastic surgeon… I don’t change their features. I don’t nip nor tuck. I work with my client’s existing face, my canvas, and I just make them see themselves in a different light.
Life is unfair. Sometimes God makes the Snookies of the world or the Lindsey Lohans and then he makes people like Angeline who embodies beauty, brains and sweets all packaged into a perfect size 0 body. Yes, It’s unfair.
A couple weeks ago, I did an interview for the great new site Beautylish, a sort of MakeupAlley meets Yelp of the beauty world, members are able to connect with other artists, product junkies, write reviews and scour the neverending list of beauty products. The interview covered the does and don’ts of a trial session, makeup based on skin type, colors, communicating with your artist and just some basic tips for your big day.
Now ,I’m a part of something Blu… Blu Bungalow that is! For those that don’t know or haven’t heard of Blu Bungalow, it’s an event planning studio located in the Collow Hollow district of San Francisco.
This shoot we did last week was to showcase Azalea Boutique’s spring fashions. If you don’t know about them, please make your way over to Hayes Valley for the best contemporary fashion San Francisco has to offer! .
I must say, that in the short time I’ve been in the makeup & wedding industry, here in the Bay Area, I’ve been received with wide-open, flailing arms. I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the creme -de-la-creme of industry professionals and meeting more and more along the way. But, none is more dear to me than my favorite Aussie… Angie Silvy. Yes, she’s a fire-y pistol and a complete riot but her talent and resume speaks for itself… she’s photographed some of the biggesst names in sports, movies and music. She has a unique style that is soft, luxe, with a bit of vintage flare, and natural but with a bit of an editorial twist. In laymen terms, she’s good. REALLY good… her pictures speak for them self.
Here is a wedding I did back in September for dear friends Kristine & Todd. And yes, they would be The Santaniellos.
They were wedded at the rustic Shakespeare Garden inside Golden Gate Park. Reception followed at Terra Gallery as guest danced and feasted on duck, pumpkin ravioli and took home delectable parisian macaroons… it was a joyous occasion filled fun, tears and laughter. Kristine, as usual, looked radiant and gorgeous in her natural makeup and Watters gown.
Take 1 part beauty, Erin Vancura, and 1 part talent, Gladys Jem, and you the get a perfect recipe for beautiful imagery…. I’m just lucky enough to have been a part of these two dynamic ladies afternoon.
Check out the rest of the images here from their portrait session.
I was recently asked to join a cult themed fashion shoot by the fabulous photographer Olga Vinokurova for Kitten Mag . The issue is currently out on news stands, please visit Kitten Mag to view the entire issue.!
